  • I have led various types of design teams—so far, four in my career (ID only, UX only, multi-disciplinary).

  • Managed team sizes ranging from as few as 2 to as many as 16.

  • At Product Insight, I rebuilt and added new capabilities to the team (UX, DR, HFE, ID, and Viz).

  • At Altitude, I started a UX offering and recruited a UX design team from the ground up.

  • I have managed teams across four locations in three different time zones (Boston, Detroit, Seattle, SF).

  • I have led unification efforts across acquisitions for design (Nytec, MindTribe, Altitude, and Umlaut).

Design and Operational Excellence

At every company, I aim to learn and understand the organization's dynamics, its strengths and weaknesses, and to identify opportunities for improvement. Whether within the design team or across the organization, I collaborate with staff and other leaders to promote ongoing improvement efforts. Below are examples of efforts I undertook at Product Insight, Accenture, and Altitude.

Establishing Company-Wide Product Development Process

  • Created a unified development process and RACI across functions.

  • Partnered with other leaders to facilitate the adoption throughout the organization.

Design Team Process Improvements (Standardize and Remove Barriers)

  • Formalize 1:1, capability sync, and design team meeting cadence and meeting format.

  • Promoted principals and senior designers to document the process, create capability templates, and guidelines. (e.g., research plan, report templates, UX templates in Figma, and visualization processes).

  • Developed and implemented procedures for inventory management and checkout of research and prototyping equipment.

  • Collaborated with operations to develop a procedure to procure and manage participant incentives and participant waivers.

Leveraged New Technologies

  • Used an AI tool (Dovetail) for research transcription and to aid research analysis.

  • Improved participant privacy by applying AI-powered face blurring in proof point videos.

Implementing Resource Management Tools

  • Led efforts to implement a centralized resource management tool and process.

  • Partnered with PMO to develop a custom utilization tool to pull in Workday data and generate departmental reports for Connected Product Leaders.

Developed Company-Wide Intranet

  • Created a centralized site for company information (e.g., onboarding, policies, PO forms, guidelines, etc.).

  • Trained the operations team to assume responsibility and manage.

Business Development Tools

  • Created departmental site to centralize all Connected Products case studies and pitch decks, reducing response time for sales directors across the organization.

Launched Company-Wide Collaboration Tool

  • Implemented and trained staff on Figma company-wide.

  • Enhanced team communication, decision traceability, and fostered program brainstorming.
